New York State Grand Jury Procedures Unveiled

Jury Composition and Selection

In New York State, grand juries comprise a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 23 sitting jurors. These jurors are meticulously selected from randomly drawn lists of registered voters or driver's license holders.

Grand Jury Indictments

Grand juries play a crucial role in the judicial process. After evaluating evidence presented by the prosecution, the jury votes to issue an indictment. Resumption of Grand Jury Proceedings
